How to Play Pinpoint

How the game works

1. Start: The game displays one word/phrase as the first clue.
2. Guess: Type what you think is the common category linking the words.
3. If incorrect: A new word is revealed to give more context.
4. Repeat: You get up to five guesses; each wrong guess reveals another word or phrase.
5. Goal: Identify the shared category using as few guesses as possible.

Tips for success

• Think broadly first: start with general categories (e.g., "animals", "countries", "tools") before narrowing down.
• Use word forms: watch for grammatical patterns (suffixes, prefixes, pluralization) that can suggest a theme.
• Don’t rush: there is no timer, each extra clue is more valuable than a random guess.
• Combine clues: try to find an intersection of properties among revealed words (color, function, location, ending).
• Practice daily: recurring puzzles build pattern recognition - try similar puzzles to get faster.
